Terms of service
Effective
The short version: your recordings are yours, and you can use MuziMemo for free without an account. If you pay, whoever you bought from handles the payment: Apple, Google, or our reseller Paddle.com on our website. Sync is for your own music, and it has a generous fair-use ceiling that almost nobody will reach — if you do, we’ll talk to you first, and we will never delete a recording because of it. Keep a backup of anything you can’t afford to lose.
The rest of this page says the same thing in more detail. Using MuziMemo means you agree to these terms. How we handle your information is in our separate privacy policy.
Who we are
MuziMemo is made and operated by SOR White Rock Music Education Ltd., White Rock, British Columbia, Canada — “we” and “us” on this page. “You” means the person using the app.
Using the app without an account
You can record, organize, tag, search and back up your library without signing in. Nothing you make leaves your device until you choose to sign in.
Every feature is free for your first clips, as our pricing says; after that, Pro is a one-time purchase. Recording, playing, exporting and backing up never stop working, whether or not you pay.
Your account
Signing in turns on sync between your devices. To have an account:
- you must be at least 13 years old, and if you are under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent’s or guardian’s permission;
- you are responsible for keeping access to your sign-in (your email, Google or Apple account) secure, and for what happens in your account;
- one account is for one person. Don’t share it or sell access to it.
Your recordings are yours
You own everything you record, import and write in MuziMemo. We claim no ownership of it.
To run sync, you give us permission to store your library and copy it between your devices — and only that. We don’t use your recordings for anything else: no advertising, no training of any kind, no sharing. That permission ends when you delete the item or your account.
We don’t look through your library. With end-to-end encryption on, we can’t.
What you may not do
- Upload audio you don’t have the right to keep — your own recordings and audio you’re allowed to store are fine.
- Use sync to store or share anything unlawful.
- Use sync as general file storage for things that aren’t part of your library.
- Try to reach anyone else’s account or data, or disrupt, overload or probe the service.
- Resell or rent out the service.
Sync storage and fair use
Synced storage is meant for your own music: recordings you make in the app, audio you import to work on, and the notes, names and tags that go with them. It isn’t a general-purpose file locker.
Each account has a fair-use ceiling of 100 GB of synced storage. That is about 1,700 hours of recordings made in the app. Imported uncompressed audio such as WAV or AIFF takes up roughly ten times as much per hour, so a large archive of studio files is what gets close — not everyday recording.
If your library goes past it:
- We email you first. Nothing changes the day you cross it.
- We never delete a recording because of it.
- If it keeps growing and we can’t sort it out together, we may pause new uploads from your account. Everything already uploaded stays where it is, everything on your devices keeps working, and you can still back up your whole library.
What counts is the size of your synced recordings on our servers, including anything in Recently deleted until it is permanently removed.
Purchases and subscriptions
You can use MuziMemo for free. Some features are paid, as a one-time purchase, a subscription, or both. What each includes and costs is shown in the app and in our pricing at the time you buy, and that is what you get.
- Where you buy. In the App Store or Google Play, Apple or Google takes the payment, and their terms govern billing and refunds. On our website, our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com, which is the Merchant of Record for all our orders and handles billing, tax, payment questions and returns.
- Pro is a licence for you. Bought on the website, Pro comes as a licence key by email. It’s for one person, on all of their own devices; don’t share or resell it. Bought in an app store, Pro also works on your other devices once you sign in to the same account.
- Sync is a subscription that renews automatically until you cancel: in your App Store or Google Play settings if you bought it there, or on your account page if you bought it on our website. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Sync until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
- Refunds on our website. Within 30 days of any website purchase, ask and you’ll get your money back, no questions asked. A refunded Pro licence stops unlocking Pro. App store refunds are requested from the store; we can’t issue them ourselves.
- When a subscription ends, sync stops. Your library stays on your devices, and you can back it up at any time. We won’t delete the copy on our servers without emailing you first and giving you at least 30 days to download it.
- A one-time purchase includes every future update.
- Prices can change, but never for a period you’ve already paid for, and you’ll be told before a subscription renews at a higher price.
If we ever stop offering MuziMemo, we’ll tell you well in advance. The app records, plays and organizes your library without our servers, so it keeps doing that on your devices.
Keep your own backups
MuziMemo is built never to lose a recording, but no software or service is perfect. Back up anything you can’t afford to lose (Settings → Library → Back up library) and keep the file somewhere other than your phone.
If you turn on end-to-end encryption, your recovery key — the 24 words the app shows you — is the only way back into your library if you lose every device. We don’t have it and can’t recover your library without it.
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in Settings, or by asking us at [to be confirmed: contact email]. That removes your synced library from our servers; what is on your devices stays until you delete it.
We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms. Unless the law or a security problem prevents it, we’ll tell you first and give you a chance to download your library.
App store terms
If you got MuziMemo from Apple’s App Store, Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Google Play’s terms apply to a copy from Google Play. Apple and Google are not responsible for the app or for these terms.
No warranty
We work hard to make MuziMemo reliable, but it is provided “as is” and “as available”, without promises that it will always be uninterrupted or free of errors, to the extent the law allows.
Limits on our liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to what you paid us for MuziMemo in the 12 months before it.
Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer protection law that can’t be waived.
Changes to these terms
When these terms change, we update the effective date at the top and add a line to the change log below, saying what changed. If a change takes something away from you, we’ll tell you by email or in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and disputes go to the courts of British Columbia. If you live somewhere else, you keep any protection your local consumer law gives you.
